As a teenager I was heavy into kickboxing, and latter started Thai Boxing training as well. Jujitsu fighters learn to pin down their opponents, and place them in holds such as an arm bar and make them submit the fight. I think with the set up of the UFC network this is the most influential style of fighting, and leads more people to victories than any other.
If I were in ultimate fighting today I would spend 90 percent of my training learning Thai boxing and Brazilian Jujitsu. I personally think with this combination of fighting styles it would make you an unstoppable force in the cage. The true greats in mixed martial arts learn to master several styles of fighting instead of depending upon just one.
One of the things I believe draws people to UFC fights is the pure violence involved in a fight. When you watch a ultimate fighting match you are getting to see grown men fight with gloves that are barley thick enough to cover their knuckles, and they can throw knees, elbows, shin kicks, leg kicks, and place people in submission holds. This is pure adrenaline at its peek.
It is interesting to me to watch Mixed Martial Arts turn into a multi billion dollar industry with the UFC network. Some UFC fights make more than forty million dollars for one night on pay per view. This is an astronomical figure, and there has been nothing like it since the Mike Tyson days.
I do not believe that we have seen the peak of UFC fighting but rather we are just starting to see the beginning of this great sport take off. With Tap Out and other camps coming out of the wood works it is causing rivalry and the public is eating it up. It has truly set itself as the Super Bowl of fighting. With more and more sponsors jumping on the UFC bandwagon I believe the best is yet to come.
One final note is that this sport has only been around for a few years, just think about when the younger teenagers and children start training and start to see fighter come up with skills beyond our belief. I personal love to watch the adrenaline pack fighting that come from a ultimate fighting battle, and I believe there are millions of others that feel the same way that will keep this great sport alive.

The one aspect of racing that captures the interest and imagination of the majority of race goers is the betting. Occasional race goers often rely on factors such as the name of the horse or the fact that a horse is the favourite to make their selection. Occasionally luck will go their way but more often than not they will come away losers. For this reason many people believe that you have to be a racing form expert to win at the races.
This is not really true. When trying to find winners at the races here are 6 factors you should consider when making your selections
The Distance of the race:
Most horses are breed to run specific distances such as sprints, middle distance or long distances. In the UK the shortest races are run over 5 furlongs and the longest around 3 miles. Sprint races are between 5 and 7 furlongs and often horse that are really quick over 5 furlongs run out of steam if they run any further. Equally if a horse is finishing fast and catching up the other runners over 5 furlongs he maybe ideally suited to 6 or 7 furlongs. If you look at the form card and see in the previous race the horse was described as running on or finishing strongly this could indicate a horse needs a little further distance
The Number of runners
Normally the bigger the field the harder it is to find the winner. In large fields it is often not the best horse who wins. It is easy for a horse to get trapped in amongst other runners and never get out to make a challenge. In large fields it can be advisable either not to bet at all or just have a place bet.
The Going
There are very few horses that like every type of ground. Some prefer to run in soft going whilst other love the hard ground were you can hear the sound of the horses hooves rattling. However, the majority of horse prefer “Good” going were the ground is neither to soft or too firm. This is particularly true of horses at the top level of racing. Many experts say that the size of the horse’s feet has also an effect on the result of the race. Horses with large feet go in the soft and smaller footed animals the firm.
The Time since their last run
When the horse last ran is an important consideration that you have to think about before you pick out your bet. Many horses that have not been racing for awhile will need a race or two to sharpen up and become race fit. On the other hand there are a few horses that run their best races when fresh and are running after a lay off. You should be able to spot these if you look at their past form. If a horse has raced in the last 28 days that should give some indication that the horse is race fit.
The Horses Form
One of the strongest form indicators is if a horse has won on the course before. It is even better if it has not only won on the course but at the distance as well. This is shown on the form card as CD and is good sign. It is also a good indication if a horse is showing improvement. For instance if in its last 3 races it finished, unplaced, fourth and then second it could well be due for a win.
The Favourite
Obviously not all favourites win and this is particularly true in handicap races. In fact On average about one in three favourites actually win. However, in non handicap races especially with small fields that percentage can rise 50% or more.

A good organization supports charity and NASCAR does just that through its NASCAR foundation. The NASCAR foundation has a program where for a $30 donation you can join in on the NASCAR track walk. The Home Depot, one of the nation’s largest retail home improvement centers, is a major sponsor of the promotions and holds charitable events with proceeds going to the Foundation. But who does the Foundation support and what kinds of events do they hold to raise funds?

One thing they do is sponsor auctions where the proceeds go to one of the foundations supported by the NASCAR foundation. For example, on September 17, 2007, they announced bidding on Jeff Gordon full-sized and autographed fiberglass auto body. The proceeds from this auction go to the Jeff Gordon Foundation which supports pediatric medical care of children with serious and life-threatening disease.

The NASCAR foundation holds the Blood and Marrow Drives at different tracks each year. The donations help out the Jimmie Johnson Foundation and the Hendrick Marrow Program. Other charities of the NASCAR Foundation are:

The Dale Earnhardt Foundation

This is a foundation run by the wife of the racing great who died in a race car crash in 2001. Dale Earnhardt was concerned about education, children, and wildlife and his commitment lives on through this foundation.

Kyle Petty is the son of the King of NASCAR Richard Petty and he sponsors a motorcycle ride across the USA for the Victory Junction Gang Camp as well as other children’s charities.

Victory Junction Gang Camp

This is an organization with the mission of helping to enrich the lives of children with serious illnesses by providing them a camping experience in a medically-safe environment. It was founded by Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie in June 2004. The couple also donated the land that the camp stands on today. The camp is interesting because it was built with a racing theme and all the look of a NASCAR race track. The camp takes cash donations and there are volunteer opportunities. It is also gives a quilt and a teddy bear to each child who stays there so they are always looking for donations of these two items to replenish their supply.

This was a telethon held on May 18, 2007 across from Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Speed Channel, NASCAR, and Sirius radio broadcasted this telethon event through the end of the Craftsman Truck Series Race.
